Biography

 

GrameA native of Chalkida, Greece. He studied classical guitar with Kyriakos Tzortzinakis and Evangelos Asimakopoulos at the National Conservatory of Athens and music theory and composition with Yannis Ioannidis at Nakas Conservatory and electroacoustic music with Henri Kergomard at KSYME in Athens.


He continued his studies of composition and computer music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et danse de Lyon, France with Philippe Manoury, Marco Stroppa, Dennis Lorrain and Robert Pascal. 


He has also pursued courses of audio engineering with Christophe Germanique and MaxMSP programming with Francois Roux.

He has attended master classes with Phillipe Schoeller, Allain Gaussin, George Crumb, Klaus Hubert, Peter Eötvös, Gerard Grissey, Ivan Fedele, Michaël Lévinas, Jonathan Harvey, Gilbert Amy, Michael Jarrell, Francois Bayle, David Wessel, and Miller Puckette.

He has received:

“Honorable mention” in the II International Electroacoustic Music Contest of Sao Paulo (CIMESP 1997 Brazil).
2nd Price in the National Composition Contest “Papaioannou” (Athens, Greece 1998).
Finalist in the II International Computer Music Competition Pierre Schaeffer 1999 (Pescara,Italy).
Finalist in the International Electroacoustic Music Contest Art’s 2001 (Valencia, Spain).
Laureate of the Grame/EOC Composition Contest 2002 (Lyon, France).
Finalist in the International Electroacoustic Music Contest Miniaturas Electroacusticas 2008 (Huelva, Spain).
Winner of the Sonoport.com International Sound Logo Competition 2015 (Singapore).

His work has been selected for the official concerts of the International Computer Music Conference ( ICMC’99 Beijing, China ), (ICMC 2001 Havana, Cuba), (ICMC 2003 Singapore), (ICMC 2005 Barcelona, Spain), (ICMC2007 Copenhagen, Denmark), (ICMC 2010 New York USA).

His pieces have been performed worldwide in many other international events in Greece, France, England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine, S. Korea, Chile, Argentina, Australia, Canada and USA.

He had commissions from Athens Concert Hall, (Megaron), National Centre of Music Creation of France (Grame),
and Ministry of Culture of France.

He is founding member of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA).

He has received 12 travel grants from Ministry of Culture of Greece, The Hellenic Foundation for Culture and  CNSMD de Lyon.

His work has been released on CDs in Brazil, Canada, Spain and Greece.

His music explores the realization of sound organisms, which lead across their movements and their unusual logic to a particular type of energy.

As an audio engineer he has worked with award winning production companies such as Fiestic, Oak Lief, Sometimes Studio, and Three Summers Creative. He had the opportunity to do audio work for high profile companies such as Lenovo, Disney, McAfee and Adobe among others. He has also done audio post production work for tv commercials and films.
